Photographers know how expensive colour gels are to buy. I Googled alternative options and I came across a tip which is to request samples from companies selling colour sheets!
Over three hundred gels came in the post which are exactly the right size for my flash gun diffuser. However!!! Do not put them inside the diffuser as the intense heat can melt them; it’s better to place them outside the diffuser with elastic band.
In this photograph Natasha agreed to be photographed in an impromptu studio setting, ie we grabbed the camera, flash and a white sheet.
This is one of my favourite portraits.
Coventry Photography Tips
This shot involved using a flash diffuser with a orange gel held over it by elastic band. The use of 2.8 was deliberate so to bring attention to Natasha's eyes. No touching up was used in this shot.
Camera used: Canon EOS 450D
Focal Length: 2.8
Exposure Time: 1/200
Flash used: 580EX
