The first photograph of a new born baby is an incredible treasure.
Babies with their innocent expressions, smiling and trusting eyes will melt everyones’ heart.
Newborn photography follows the same basic theme throughout. Colours should be natural and the environment clean.
Themes include the baby sleeping or awake smiling. You can’t direct the baby so you have to ensure that they are comfortable and with people that they are familiar with. Images that have the baby interacting with its parents also look great. Indeed this theme extends well to baby and grandparents; the contrast between the fresh look of a baby and its grandparents is worth capturing.
The environment of the image will need your attention because the baby will usually not react well to changes to temperature or the sudden leaving of the room by parents.
Given the young age of the baby it is unlikely that you will be able to be outside. Avoiding flash guns and relying on natural light is preferable as the bright lights can disturb them.
Black and white images work well with baby as well as close up shots, particularly where there is interaction with their parents.
