It was my friend Ben’s 25th birthday and this is his birthday portrait with his father, Clive Greenaway.
Everything about the shot is impromptu because it wasn’t planned. I quickly assembled the studio set up, provided a grey top for Ben’s father and within 30 minutes the shoot was complete.

I was told this morning that Clive Greenaway, Ben’s father tragically died in a plane accident in Peterborough on Friday 2nd September 2011 .
Coventry Photography Tips
This shot was taken quickly and is one of my favourite studio styles of photography. I had Ben's father wear a spare grey top to replace his yellow t-shirt. I wanted them both to blend well together, however I wanted the texture of the grey top to show through - which is why I didn't have his father wear black like Ben. With shots like this when Ben's father is the senior person I have deliberately placed him higher than Ben. You have to be careful with doing this, especially with partners where there is a large age gap because it could cause confusion as to whether they are a couple or father and daughter and so on!
